It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!!

After Thanksgiving Day, we start counting down the days to Christmas. We all look forward to the Christmas parties, friends getting together and family gatherings. This year Santa Claus is bringing my kids home, so it's an exciting time for my family, we all look forward to them being here even for just a short time. Christmas feasts give Roman indulgences in food a good run for their money. It's almost an "all bets are off" time of the year and the smorgasbord of delights truly irresistible. During this season, it is really hard to stay on track with our eating habits since everywhere you turn you will find a table full of good food. But how do we keep ourself on track and still enjoy this season? Here are 6 tips that you can keep in mind while feasting. 1. Get your greens and protein Do your best to get your greens and protein on your plate before anything else. I'm all for indulging at the Christmas dinners so choose veggies and protein first before feasting on the delectable fare. 2. Make healthier choices with treats Try to choose sweets that are made from coconut sugar, coconut nectar, or muscovado rather than white or brown sugar. In this day and age choosing a healthy option doesn't mean compromising on taste. Entice your palettes the healthy way. 3. Your preferred alcoholic beverages Sipping on the occasional glass of wine is okay, but avoid having the whole bottle. Red wine is full of antioxidants and vodka with soda makes for a healthier option for your waist line. Alcohol is full of empty calories, so do your best to consume in moderation altering it with a glass of water to keep hydrated. Having a glass of coconut water before bed after a night of drinks will add some electrolytes to your body that can reduce dehydration the next day. 4. Get to the gym or get outside Keep your daily routine of physical activity even during holidays is a a great way to keep your body and mind feeling fresh. Walk the malls and take in the kaleidoscope of sights and keep your waistline intact. 5. Enjoy your quality time with family and friends During this holiday season, the most important part is to spend time with your loved ones. Keep this in mind, and it will help you reduce stress and the pressure of commercialism of Christmas can bring. 6.Snack Wisely or Dessert Wisely Keep healthy snacks around to help you fight temptation. Have some granola with yogurt or non fat milk, grab a protein bar or energy bar, or just a handful of trail mix that will fill you up before attending that dinner party. It will keep you on track before you get to your party. Before this season gets crazy, let me greet you a wonderful holiday and looking forward to seeing you again here in

2018!!
